January 2024

Men-TALL by Ryan J. Matthews-Robinson, Magero Otieno-Magero, Geoffrey Aymer and Suzann McLean, is an innovative R&D spoken word theatre piece that seamlessly blends the power of impactful words with mesmerising music on stage. This project aims to shed light on the mental health struggles faced by men in the Black community. With suicide being the leading cause of death among men in the UK, it is crucial to address these issues and initiate a much-needed conversation.

Set on the backdrop of a wedding day, Men-TALL showcases the strength of men in embracing their emotions, expressing themselves and challenging societal norms and stereotypes. This unique production combines spoken word, live music, and theatre.

Spoken Word Theatre is an emerging and exhilarating form of artistic expression. By introducing Men-TALL, we aim to invigorate the theatre world, bringing forth fresh and exciting productions that attract a younger and more diverse audience.
